VIDEO/GALLERY: Tulsa Shootout Tuesday - Practice, Practice, Practice!

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Practice for the 40th Annual Tulsa Shootout at the Tulsa Expo Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, got underway at 8 a.m. central time on Tuesday.

Kyle Beattie Racing and SKE Chassis brought a strong lineup of racers to Tulsa for competition, with many of them seeing action indoors at the Shootout for the first time.  Only Karter Beattie, 13, is in his second year racing the Shootout - he had a heat race win last year and some strong showings, so he had high hopes coming into this year's race, where he signed up for four divisions.

Practice went well for Karter, and he showed tremendous speed in his Outlaw heat event, running as high as second before bringing out a yellow when he lost control of his car momentarily after catching the inside berm of the track.  He was forced to the tail of the field and did not transfer into the "A" main so he'll run on Wednesday in either a "D" or "C" main and attempt to work his way up that way.

London McKenzie, 14, has been fast on the dirt in the 600 Micro at Millbridge Speedway this season.  He is competing in two non-wing divisions at Tulsa and looked strong in both practices.

Hunter Yeany, 19, is a road course racer attempting to take on the best of the best on the indoor dirt oval, and he spent Tuesday learning the car and adapting to a completely different environment.  He made tremendous strides through the day, and despite being underhorsepowered in the Outlaw division because he's running an "A" Class motor, he gained speed throughout his Outlaw heat race Tuesday night and, more importantly, gained the confidence to take into Wednesday's action.

Nathan Meendering runs the No. 5N, and the 16-year-old Millbridge veteran had a strong showing in his Outlaw heat on Tuesday, finishing fifth, and will attempt to transfer on Wednesday through either a "C" or "D" main and work his way forward.

Tanner Tucker made his Shootout debut a solid one as he ran fourth in his Outlaw heat race, having never competed in that division before the weekend.  Tucker, 11, is racing against seasoned veterans and he was as solid as his Sunrock sponsorship on Tuesday, setting himself up for a high probability of success this week.

Enjoy the attached photo gallery and the in-car action from Karter Beattie's Winged "A" class practice on Tuesday, and stay tuned for daily updates as the team digs into the heart of the Shootout schedule beginning Wednesday and running through Saturday evening!
